Shawn Kollie focuses on Criminal Defense and Second Amendment Rights throughout the State of Oregon. Shawn has practiced in almost every county in Oregon and the Federal Courts. As the principal attorney of Kollie Law Group, PC in Bend, Oregon Shawn represents clients with major felony and firearm cases. With a team of talented attorneys and an in-house investigator every case is a ‘team effort’.
Shawn was born and raised in Portland, Oregon. Upon graduation from Oregon State University, Shawn attended the University of Oregon School of Law. During his second year of law school, he began working as a law clerk, exclusively on criminal and DUII defense matters.
As a third year law student, Shawn interned with the Lane County Public Defender’s Office and upon graduation accepted a position at a boutique criminal defense firm in Portland, Oregon. Taking on hundreds of cases, Shawn trained under former prosecutors and experienced defense attorneys. Shawn is certified by NHTSA and IACP to conduct field sobriety tests and uses that knowledge to assist his clients in DMV hearings and DUI trials throughout Oregon. Shawn has assisted in countless Concealed Handgun classes and helped advise a wide range of individuals from, instructing CHL Classes to obtaining a Federal Firearms Licenses.
After practicing in Portland, Oregon for over six years, Shawn moved his family to Bend, Oregon. Shawn is married and the proud father of twin boys. He enjoys spending time with his family, running, hiking, hunting, and shooting.
Born and raised in the Mid-Valley, Leslie is an Oregonian through and through. Leslie strives to provide diligent, zealous and competent legal advocacy in all criminal matters. She understands that being charged with a crime can be devastating and have life-changing consequences. Leslie focuses on getting the best outcome possible based upon her experience in criminal courtrooms, whether it is negotiating a plea offer or taking your case to trial.
After obtaining her Bachelors of Science at Oregon State University (GO BEAVS!), Leslie took a couple years off to work at a veterinary clinic and at a law firm prior to attending Willamette University College of Law. During law school, Leslie was Vice President of the Multicultural Law Students Association for two years, Managing Business Editor of the Willamette Journal of International Law and Dispute Resolution and Co-Director of Willamette’s chapter of Student Animal Legal Defense Fund. After passing the bar, Leslie worked for firms in Albany and Corvallis in the areas of estate planning and real property. In 2009, Leslie opened her own practice in Salem and focused on criminal defense. After 5 years in Salem, she moved to Bend in 2014 and is an integral part of the team of attorneys at Kollie Law Group.
In her spare time Leslie likes to travel the world, and enjoy the outdoors with friends and family.
Matthew Baughman is an experienced criminal defense attorney. He has represented individuals in all manner of felony and misdemeanor cases including homicide, child physical and sexual abuse, narcotics, vehicular crimes, robbery, and property crimes. Matthew is committed to his profession as a defense attorney and is dedicated to bringing limitless energy, creativity, and dignity to his advocacy.
Most recently, Matthew served as a Serious Violent Felony Trial Attorney for the Law Offices of the Public Defender in Albuquerque, New Mexico. In this capacity he regularly fought for individuals in high profile and complex cases. He began appearing in court while still in law school prosecuting offenses for the Missoula City Attorney’s Office and he has focused his practice on trial advocacy since that time.
Matthew received his undergraduate degree in English from The University of Nevada, Reno and earned his Juris Doctorate from The University of the Montana in 2009. He is a member of the Oregon State Bar and the State Bar of New Mexico.
Matthew grew up in the Sierra Nevada Mountains and has lived in states across the west including Montana, New Mexico, Colorado, and Alaska. He enjoys all four seasons outdoors with his family and dogs.
Kyle Fleming is one of the newest faces at Kollie Law Group. His practice focuses on criminal misdemeanor work, as well as Trust and Estates planning. Before starting at Kollie Law Group, he spent his first several years practicing law at a civil mortgage litigation firm based in Portland.
Kyle graduated cum laude from Penn State Law in 2013. During his education he spent summers interning for the Public Defender’s Office in Stamford, Connecticut. His time at the University of Washington as an undergraduate left a desire to return to the Pacific Northwest. After graduation he took and passed the Oregon State Bar and moved to the City of Bend to begin his legal career. Kyle is a wealth of knowledge, and dedicates his time to complex legal research and analysis.
Kyle spends his free time in the way many residents of Bend do, enjoying the great outdoors surrounding our lovely city. He is an enthusiastic marksman and fishermen, who also finds those extra hours to spend taking in a concert or a local craft beer.
Jacques grew up in Portland, Oregon. While attending Madison High School, he learned to speak Russian. When he was drafted into the Army in 1966, his language skills allowed him to be assigned to the National Security Agency as a translator intercepting space to ground voice transmissions from Russian Cosmonauts.
During his military service, Jacques organized a Vietnam War protest among military personnel in Japan. He later was an organizer for the People’s Army Jamboree in 1970. Jacques served four years in the Army before being Honorably Discharged.
Jacques interned with the Multnomah County District Attorney’s Office while attending Lewis & Clark Law School. After passing the Bar in 1975, he became a deputy district attorney in Malheur County. In 1980, he was appointed District Attorney by Governor Atiyeh and served nine years in that capacity. After losing an election, Jacques moved to Bend in 1989 and eventually established his own law firm there, DeKalb & Associates.
His best vacation ever was taking a month off during the budget crisis of 2003, and learning to drive 18-wheelers. He currently owns five vintage semi’s. In his free time, Jacques and his wife, Barb, spend as much time as they can with their nine grandchildren. He also enjoys riding his motorcycles. One of Jacques’ bikes is featured in an issue of American Cycle magazine.
Tame Obert is Kollie Law Group’s in-house private investigator. As one of our most valued employees, she works with our attorneys to provide the best possible defense for all of our clients. Tame has been known to work all hours of the day or night gathering evidence and interviewing witnesses.
Tame began working as a private investigator in Salem, Oregon for many years, but moved to Bend, Oregon in 2013. She brings with her years of investigation experience in criminal defense, civil work, workman’s compensation, and family law.
Tame, is a licensed private investigator with the State of Oregon Department of Public Safety Standards and Training and brings a unique approach to our cases. She believes in a caring and well-rounded approach to working with clients, witnesses and other persons she comes in contact with. Our attorneys rely on Tame daily to help maintain communication with clients and following up with needed investigation.
